The second Ashburnham English Song Awards for singers and their collaborative pianists is open to singers and pianists of any nationality who, on 1st March 2024 are resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland and, as a minimum requirement, are in or have completed their 4th year of an undergraduate course at a recognised conservatoire or music college in the United Kingdom (UK) or Republic of Ireland.
All singers and pianists must be 32 years of age or under on 16 May 2024.
FIRST PRIZE for a singer, the Molly Townson Award, £1000 FIRST PRIZE for a pianist, the Hope Gosse Award, £500 In 2024 additional prizes will includean AUDIENCE PRIZE of £250 and, in recognition of the importance placed on the collaboration between a singer and their pianist, a BEST DUO PRIZE of £500 to be shared equally between the singer and pianist forming the best duo. It is possible for finalists to win more than one of these prizes.
The music to be performed must be in the original English language and composed by composers from any part of the British Isles or Republic of Ireland. Works translated into English from a foreign language will not be considered.
The jury for the 2024 competition includes DAME FELICITY LOTT.
